Ace Hood

  American musician Antoine Franklin Mc Colister, born on May 11, 1988, is better called Ace Hood. He was born in Port St. Lucie and was raised in Deerfield Beach. In 2008, he was signed by DJ Khaled's We the Best Music Group label. The joint venture was a partnership with Def Jam Recordings. The four albums he released, Blood, Sweat & Tears (2011), as well as Trials & Tribulations (2012) was his most awaited. The top charting singles of his included "Hustle Hard" and "Bugatti" with Future and Rick Ross. Mc Colister resigned from We the Best Music in 2016 and is now an independent artist. Ace Hood was born in Port St. Lucie in Florida and was raised in Deerfield Beach by his mother (of Haitian descent) and his younger cousin Ty Barton Jr., who is part of Broward County. Deerfield Beach High School was where he was able to graduate. After suffering a severe foot injury in the 10th grade Hood began to think about the possibility of rapping as a career. Hood joined forces with Dollaz & Dealz, and came out with "M.O.E." Hood joined forces with Dollaz & Dealerz and released a single entitled "M.O.E." in the year 2006. in 2006. He started to promote himself by hosting open mics and showcases of talent in the region. Hood met DJ Khaled at the WEDR 99 Jamz radio station in 2007. Khaled was given Hood's autobiography and an unreleased demo tape. Khaled then asked Hood to do a freestyle on the instrumental track "I'm Hood" Hood" which is from his sophomore album, We the Best. Then, later, Hood was signed to his We the Best Music Group label. Hood as well as other artists, were featured in the XXL magazine's Freshmen of 2009.
