Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September, 1965) is an American choreographer, dance
instructor and reality television host. Abby Lee Dance Company was started by
her. It aired on eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. Miller pleaded guilty in
June 2016 to criminal bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced to one and
two-and-a-half years in federal prison and released on the 27th of March 2018.
She was diagnosed with lymphoma in April 2018. It is a form of cancer that
renders you unfit to walk. To get around, she now uses wheelchair. Miller was
born in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. She was a dancer , and studied under her
mother at Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. At the age of 14 years old, Miller was
assigned the task for choreographing and coaching for one of her mother's dance
teams. Miller took control of the studio and changed its name to Reign Dance
Productions in 1995. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America, and was
a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 (February 1986). However,
DMA terminated her membership in February 2012, citing that Miller's reality
television show Dance Moms was a "complete misconception of the teachers
we have and students" and was detrimental to the profession.
