Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American performer and actress from Irish descent. The green-eyed beauty sporting flaming red hair was famous for her passionate and fiery parts in numerous American films. Her beauty and elegance were highly praised. She was also known as the 'Queen Of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her character on screen was a reflection of her own brave, strong spirit that fought for recognition and survival in the male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect to gain the roles she earned through merit. She stood up for the injustices and unfair treatment of female actors throughout her film career. She also gained lots of admirers. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", released in 2004, provided a candid review of her experience, as well as her struggles in her climb to success. She was an adventurous woman who was not afraid to perform herself stunts. Through the years she was in over 60 films and gained an enormous amount of fame throughout the world. She was remarried in 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former air force pilot brigadier and chief who were the pioneers of transatlantic aviation. She finally retired after couple of years of marriage. The joy she felt was only temporary because Blair lost her life in a devastating plane crash in the year 1978. In the same year , she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and needed immediate surgery. She eventually recovered. Her health deteriorated throughout her life and she was diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six and short-term memory loss, and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara aged 95, peacefully passed away in Boise on the 24th of October, 2015.
